Ed Mundy spent the
first year after he joined the Spider Monkey cast in total obscurity. He then
grew his trademark red beard and everything turned around. Known as "Ole
Red Beard" to the cast for one day, Ed quickly threatened all of their
lives:
"If anyone calls me 'Ole Red Beard' again, I will kill them. And I'm not kidding. I will kill them."
Obviously kidding, Ed was immediately voted most likeable cast member. He also became the most recognizable cast member, appearing as such unforgetable characters as the Man with Beard in "Old School Revenge," the Man with Beard in "A Wedding Story," and many others that currently escape this biographer's mind.

But
the bitch-goddess "Fame" didn't claim Ed's soul as it has for so many
stars before him. Rather, it gave him a new perspective on life. Ed remembers:
"Once
at Super Wal-Mart, a humble fan recognized me and wanted to shake my hand. As
he was about to leave, his two year old son stuck out his hand to also shake
my hand. It was adorable, and it broke my heart. It was at that moment that
I knew I could never eat children again."
"Wait, were you writing that down?"
Yes, we were, Ed! Yes, we were.
